Misconceptions and celebration

Ugh! I thought the holidays were supposed to be about relaxing, kicking back with family, and various illumination-based symbols. Nobody ever said anything about hard work. ;-) Well, the worst is behind us – all of our months of effort are paying off, and Warrior Within is on store shelves. Sweet!

Seriously though, the game is looking great, and if I could only find a few minutes I’d be able to actually play to the first save point. The funny thing about that is, you’re probably asking yourself why somebody who works in the game industry isn’t even playing his own game. Answer: because we work so hard we don’t have time.

This also ties into a common misconception about the business I frequently encounter when I tell someone I work here. Their immediate reaction is usually something along the lines of “oh, so you program games?”. It’s a mystery to me why so many people think that working in the game business means you either write code, or do graphic design. I don’t get it.

Anyway, if you’ve gotten a chance to play the game, post your comments here. Or on the Prince of Persia Forums.

By the way, Penny Arcade did a funny comic about the game a few days ago. Those boys are so witty.

We realise that not everyone in the gaming industry is coordinated on the coding, programming, or artistic direction of the business. Well I do anyway, and I'm sure there are a lot of fans that feel the same way. I can tell you now, that your hard work pulled of in the end result. You've produced a game that's both innovative and respective of the franchise.

I feel that the POP series is pushing more and more into the dramatic movie like Hollywood side of entertainment, which I think is what makes the latest Prince Of Persia's so desirable. They feel like epic masterpieces. In the back of my own mind, I sometimes hope that there is someone that is looking at the grander scale of what can be achieved with this methodology that you guys have got together right now. Even though there may be some issues that fans have expressed over the latest instalment, I still believe that the whole POP team are doing a very good job in terms of asking it's customers what they didn't like about it's predecessor, just don't forget to ask them what they did like! It's a good sign of well built customer relations, for example this blog, one of many, and the website you have up. The POP: WW website is finally a site that does not use an abundance of flash, and it actually tells us what we want to hear, it's also regularly updated! Wow!

I do not mind if you feel you have to take risks in terms of the style, storyline, artistic feel, or gameplay of the series, so long as when someone plays the game, it will make them utter the words, "Only the POP teams could have made this!"

As my art teacher once said, "Don't be afraid to take risks, even if it means painting over your nice white canvas in tremendous green."

I really like Warrior Within. The Sands of Time was such a great game, I just don't think you can ever out do yourselves. Warrior Within is more of the same goodness from The Sands of Time, so it's alright with me.

    Hello.

What's wrong with Ubisoft ? Why didn't they release a patch for the game ? I was lucky enough not to encounter any of the bugs but lots of people are facing huge problems with the game. You really should release a patch as soon as possible or the POP Franchise would follow the same path Tomb Raider is in right now and I surely don't want this to happen.

hey, i got warior within for xmas on ps2, as i am just in love with sands of time. ive completed it so many times ive lost count.
but now im frustrated and very angry! im stuck, and have been since i got it, on the stage where you fight the lady in black (Shahdee?????) for the 2nd time, as you are trying to stop that girl falling to her doom. its not very far into the game. i just cant get past it. i get to her having literally about a milimetere's worth of life left, but then no matter what, she just will not die. if i dont get killed, im still going for 15 minutes before i get too frustrated to carry on.
is this a glitch or am i doing something wrong??
i have read on other sites that this happens, but they say to just carry on and she will eventually die, but obviously not in this case. the only attack that does not block at this stage is if you roll and jab her in the leg. please please some one help me?? its such a shame to waste such a fantastic game!!
if any one has any advice or help, please email me, ashleigh_barnett@hotmail.com

I just love this prince of persia series. but im totally not a nerd. im speaking in 2006 and ive played all the prince of persia games from "Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time" to "Prince Of Persia: The Two Thrones". But what is with all these bad comments about warrior within that it sucks and it has repetitive images and he's gone more violent than the prince we know from the sands of time. well der!! hes gone more darker for a reason, haven't you seen the storyline and the warrior within website. he is being hunted by an immortal creature called the dahaka because he's the guardian of time and the prince messed about with time. meaning he also changed his fate. and the dahaka is always chasing him for a purpose: to end the prince's life as soon as possible. so the prince is forced to live on the run and get past his enemies to be as far away from the dahaka as possible and reach the time room. AND REPETITIVE IMAGES???!!!!!! You must have not understood the game good enugh. he just travels back in time to go to the same place but also eveything is fine so he'll be on the move. if he always stays in the peresent he will get around the island of time, well hope you have all the information you need guys, chou!!!
